I feel ambivalent about Bannister's work. I just installed Richard Bannister's Genesis Plus for Mac OS X last week.ĭoes the current version of GP still have the collision detection bug in Shadow of the Beast, or the crazy music bug in Thunder Force II? (But rebooting into Windows just to play a game is also a pain.) Edited by BillyHW Emulation on Mac is a pain compared to PC. I wish he would update them more frequently, but I'm sure he has a day job. None of them are perfect, some of them are quite incomplete, but some of them are quite good. That's what I really like about using his emulators. There's insufficient explanation at first, and there are still some annoying things like having to place a helper file in the appropriate directory in the Library to get everything working properly.Īt least when you've figured out how to use one of his emulators, it helps you with the others because the user interface is pretty much the same across all of them. I've been using some of his other emulators recently (Mugrat for Coleco, Nestopia for NES, and others) and they seem a bit easier to use than most other emulators, once you figure everything out, of course.
